Training Academy

We aim to build a more skilled and productive workforce and have a strong focus on investing in the skills and development of apprentices through our Training Academy.

Greenview Gas was recognised by South Eastern Regional College in Northern Ireland through their 2019 Business Excellence Awards for supporting education and employability, most notably in terms of Commitment to Training.

We have also won a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) application in partnership with South Eastern Regional College, helping to drive business innovation across our group.

We show our commitment by putting the Greenview Apprenticeship Programme front and centre of recruitment and training within our business. Training and development is one of our core values as a business, and the apprenticeship programme is a key element in producing our engineers of the future.

With ongoing developments in the heating, energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors around the decarbonisation of heat, power and transport, we continue to invest in our apprenticeship programmes to produce well motivated, technically knowledgeable and capable individuals and teams to ensure that Greenview as a business can meet the future demands of our clients and their zero carbon targets.

What we offer

We offer apprentices a formal apprenticeships at both Level 2 and 3 across various trades such as plumbing, electrical and joinery; this is complemented by opportunities to work in the different sectors in which Greenview operate, across a range of contracts and clients to deliver a breadth of experience.

Apprentice development is monitored through regular reviews every 6-8 weeks as part of a personal training and development plan, devised and facilitated through a personal mentor. We provide effective apprenticeship support, regular inhouse training every 3 months attended by all Business Unit Directors demonstrating our commitment to developing apprentices, development of personal training plans to assist with all qualifications, portfolio development and additional training such as environmental awareness, customer care, mental health awareness, and health and safety including CSCS accreditation.

We provide continual opportunities for all our employees to upskill and develop their skills through targeted and focused training to meet their training aspirations and future needs of the business. This includes our Management Development Programme to develop and nurture our people internally. We are delivering a carbon neutral upskilling programme to multi-skill our workforce in new and emerging technologies.

“I have been fortunate to work on a variety of contracts including kitchens and bathrooms, heating installation, oil and gas maintenance. This has provided an excellent experience of working in different environments, with numerous clients, and has provided me with knowledge of health and safety processes, tenant liaison and customer care to supplement my engineering skills by working with senior engineers across the business. I am committed to completing my apprenticeship and moving forward with my career in plumbing/heating engineering. I have also enjoyed being an apprenticeship buddy, mentoring new members to the apprenticeship scheme to offer support, advice and guidance. ”

“Greenview have been a successful part of the training programmes in SERC for many years. They have taken several apprentices in plumbing, electrical and joinery. They are instrumental in offering valuable training and offering skilled employment to apprentices. They offer apprentices the chance to learn different skills and specialise in work in line with the national occupational standards as well as offering opportunities to enhance their skill set that will help expand the company business. This in turn will help to develop the economy by investing in our young people and preventing a skills shortage area. The apprentices training is constantly reviewed to ensure that their needs are met, and pastoral care issues are addressed. Apprentices are encouraged to progress onto level 3 and further. In turn Greenview are committed to providing excellent quality training in difficult and uncertain times. “
