2024 Charity of the Year: Air Ambulance Northern Ireland

The start of a new year marks the time for us to appoint our new Charity of the Year for 2024.

Greenview is growing rapidly and our charity fundraising is growing alongside us each year. We pride ourselves on giving back to the community and Corporate Social Responsibility is at the core of our business ethos.

Having our employees nominate their preferred charities enables us to support a cause close to their hearts, and therefore the heart of the company. This year we had 11 nominated charities who were shortlisted by an independent panel. The panel had the difficult task of selecting the final charity to partner with. After much consideration across all 11 incredible worthy charities, the panel decided that Greenview will be supporting Air Ambulance Northern Ireland across 2024.

Air Ambulance NI is a charity that works in partnership with the NI Ambulance Service to provide the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service for the region. The charity’s helicopter carries a crew compiling pilot, doctor and paramedic, 365 days a year, operating 12 hours a day. Every single day in Northern Ireland, an average of two individuals find themselves in critical need of Air Ambulance NI. If a patient reaches hospital within 60 minutes after their injury, their chances of survival are dramatically increased.

Each day it costs £6,850 to run the charity, totalling £2.5 million per year, and they rely solely on support from the public and local businesses, with only their medical crew, equipment and medicines provided by the NHS. To read more about Air Ambulance NI, please click here

Thank you to all members of staff who put forward a nominated charity, we appreciate you taking the time to help us appoint our chosen charity. We look forward to supporting such a brilliant charity across the year, with coffee mornings, events and charity challenges.

ESPO Framework Re-Appointment

Greenview’s subsidiary, B.I. Electrical Services, have recently been awarded a place on Lot 1 of Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation’s (ESPO) Renewable Energy Solutions framework (2838), for the supply, installation and maintenance of solar PV systems and associated products.

Having previously been appointed to its predecessor that has been running since 2019, we are delighted to be continuing work alongside ESPO.

ESPO is a public sector owned professional buying organisation (PBO), owned and operated jointly by six local authorities. Their key objective is to help its member authorities achieve optimum value for money when buying goods and services.

The ESPO Renewable Energy Solutions framework (2838) is available to any public body defined in the Local Authorities Act 1970, including schools, colleges and universities, NHS and emergency services, and central government agencies and ministries, among others.

The objectives of ESPO frameworks are to offer public sector customers access to a range of pre-approved suppliers, to secure value for money, to provide access to easy and generic further competitions designed to provide bespoke solutions for customers and deliver social value.

Quarterly Apprentice Day

In September 2023, we hosted our quarterly Apprentice Day at our Carryduff office. This is an opportunity for apprentices to learn, get to know colleagues, and access further training opportunities provided by Greenview.

CITB Northern Ireland and St John Ambulance Northern Ireland came onsite to train our apprentice team. Jason (CITB NI) taught Working at Heights Awareness and COSHH, whilst Martin (St John Ambulance) delivered Mental Health training. Thank you to Jason and Martin for providing such an informative and thought-provoking day for us.

As well as providing refresher training for our long-term apprentices, we welcomed four new apprentices to their first quarterly Apprentice Day. The day gave them invaluable training to take forward into their four-year programme.

We offer formal apprenticeships at both Level 2 and 3 across various trades such as plumbing, electrical and joinery. Our apprentices work across various trades such as plumbing, electrical and joinery at both Level 2 and 3. Click here to read more about our Training Academy

Annual Apprentice Away Day 2023

Our annual Apprentice Away Day for 2023 took place at Escarmouche, Ireland’s largest Paintball & Multi-Activity Park. Apprentices and their line managers took to the action park to improve their teamwork, communication, problem-solving abilities – and of course, to let off some steam.

Our HR team organised a brilliant day that was enjoyed by all, including paintball, foosball, tug-of-war and an assault course.

We take great pride in our Apprenticeship Programme and the feedback we receive on the format of the programme. Including a day full of fun-filled activities and an Apprentice Away Day each year provides an opportunity for our apprentices from different teams to come together to share, learn from and support each other.
