Greenview Apprentice receives double recognition at  Springvale’s 2024 Learner Awards

Huge congratulations to one of our apprentices, Luke, who received, not one, but two awards at Springvale Employment and Learning‘s recent 2024 Learner Awards.

Luke was awarded Apprenticeships NI Learner of the Year in Plumbing, and overall Apprenticeships NI Learner of the Year 2024.

Springvale’s Apprenticeships NI Learner of the Year 2024 award recognises an overall Apprenticeships Winner showing their hard work and dedication to both their course and employer and building their career.

Luke’s tutor commented “Luke started with Springvale on the Level 1 Plumbing course and found himself a work placement with Greenview on a temporary basis, Luke performed that well Greenview offered him an apprenticeship and he has gone from strength to strength since then. Luke not only started on his Level 2 Plumbing course but was able to also complete his Level 1 portfolio at the same time.

This shows that Luke is a hard-working and a driven individual. Luke is an outstanding student, he is always on time and his attendance is excellent. I have no doubt that Luke will be very successful in the future as he has a great attitude in the workshop and on site. Well done Luke, great Job and good luck with your level 3 in plumbing course.“

Luke commented “I’ve found my apprenticeship great. Anytime I need help with anything there’s always someone there like the engineers or the HR staff. I’ve enjoyed most of it. I love being out in the van and doing the work I’ve been doing, I’ve nothing to complain about.”

Apprentice Success: Springvale Employment and Learning’s Learner of the Year Trainee Plumber

Huge congratulations to one of our apprentices, Frank, who was awarded Learner of the Year Trainee Plumber at Springvale Employment and Learning’s recent 2024 Learner Awards!

Frank has recently joined Greenview through our Apprenticeship Programme and starts his Level 2 Plumbing course in September at Springvale Employment and Learning.

Frank’s tutor commented “Frank is a very intelligent young man. He is extremely capable of any tasks he is set and has shown a great enthusiasm for success by finding his own employment with Greenview and solidifying a place on the APP NI programme with a qualification in Level 2 Plumbing. I have no doubt that Frank will make his way to become a fully qualified plumber with a very successful career.”

Commenting on his early days with Greenview, Frank said “I’ve found my first few weeks here great, it’s nothing but a pleasure to be working here. I’m finding it really easy to settle in with everyone.”

We are proud of the commitment each of our apprentices make, and of course the invaluable impact of our workplace mentors who support their journey.

Apprentice Plumber of the Year at Belfast Metropolitan College

Huge congratulations to one of our apprentice plumbers, Tirzah, who was recognised at the Belfast Metropolitan College Apprentice Awards 2024.

Tirzah was awarded the Level 3 Plumbing Apprentice Winner.

The awards are a recognition of the hard work and dedication of those undertaking an apprenticeship. Tirzah has participated in our Apprenticeship Programme which aims to compliment the college-based learning with wider skills and learning, and has become a valued member of our team.

Commenting on her experience as a Greenview apprentice, Tirzah said “My apprenticeship with Greenview has been an immensely rewarding experience. While classroom learning has its merits, nothing compares to the hands-on training I’ve received working alongside skilled engineers. The experience I’ve gained through this whole apprenticeship programme is invaluable.

The support and encouragement from Greenview, as well as from the engineers themselves, has been exceptional. I wholeheartedly recommend this pathway to anyone considering a career change or looking to acquire lifelong skills and knowledge in the trade industry.”

2024 Charity of the Year: Air Ambulance Northern Ireland

The start of a new year marks the time for us to appoint our new Charity of the Year for 2024.

Greenview is growing rapidly and our charity fundraising is growing alongside us each year. We pride ourselves on giving back to the community and Corporate Social Responsibility is at the core of our business ethos.

Having our employees nominate their preferred charities enables us to support a cause close to their hearts, and therefore the heart of the company. This year we had 11 nominated charities who were shortlisted by an independent panel. The panel had the difficult task of selecting the final charity to partner with. After much consideration across all 11 incredible worthy charities, the panel decided that Greenview will be supporting Air Ambulance Northern Ireland across 2024.

Air Ambulance NI is a charity that works in partnership with the NI Ambulance Service to provide the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service for the region. The charity’s helicopter carries a crew compiling pilot, doctor and paramedic, 365 days a year, operating 12 hours a day. Every single day in Northern Ireland, an average of two individuals find themselves in critical need of Air Ambulance NI. If a patient reaches hospital within 60 minutes after their injury, their chances of survival are dramatically increased.

Each day it costs £6,850 to run the charity, totalling £2.5 million per year, and they rely solely on support from the public and local businesses, with only their medical crew, equipment and medicines provided by the NHS. To read more about Air Ambulance NI, please click here

Thank you to all members of staff who put forward a nominated charity, we appreciate you taking the time to help us appoint our chosen charity. We look forward to supporting such a brilliant charity across the year, with coffee mornings, events and charity challenges.

Greenview’s subsidiary, B.I. Electrical Services, have recently been awarded a place on Lot 1 of Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation’s (ESPO) Renewable Energy Solutions framework (2838), for the supply, installation and maintenance of solar PV systems and associated products.

Having previously been appointed to its predecessor that has been running since 2019, we are delighted to be continuing work alongside ESPO.

ESPO is a public sector owned professional buying organisation (PBO), owned and operated jointly by six local authorities. Their key objective is to help its member authorities achieve optimum value for money when buying goods and services.

The ESPO Renewable Energy Solutions framework (2838) is available to any public body defined in the Local Authorities Act 1970, including schools, colleges and universities, NHS and emergency services, and central government agencies and ministries, among others.

The objectives of ESPO frameworks are to offer public sector customers access to a range of pre-approved suppliers, to secure value for money, to provide access to easy and generic further competitions designed to provide bespoke solutions for customers and deliver social value.

Quarterly Apprentice Day

In September 2023, we hosted our quarterly Apprentice Day at our Carryduff office. This is an opportunity for apprentices to learn, get to know colleagues, and access further training opportunities provided by Greenview.

CITB Northern Ireland and St John Ambulance Northern Ireland came onsite to train our apprentice team. Jason (CITB NI) taught Working at Heights Awareness and COSHH, whilst Martin (St John Ambulance) delivered Mental Health training. Thank you to Jason and Martin for providing such an informative and thought-provoking day for us.

As well as providing refresher training for our long-term apprentices, we welcomed four new apprentices to their first quarterly Apprentice Day. The day gave them invaluable training to take forward into their four-year programme.

We offer formal apprenticeships at both Level 2 and 3 across various trades such as plumbing, electrical and joinery. Our apprentices work across various trades such as plumbing, electrical and joinery at both Level 2 and 3. Click here to read more about our Training Academy
